Many are probably still
saying good riddance to 2009. We've survived the abyss
of the financial crisis; the stock market is rebounding,
even housing prices seem to be stabilizing...at least
not dropping. Many analysts are reporting that the worst is over
for technology spending and the sector is set to rebound
this year and some predict a year of growth of 7 to 8% n
2010, but what does all of this mean for the technology
industry? Will 2010 bring
back the exuberance of the pre-crisis years? What
sectors will be the darlings of investors?
What will happen to IT in light of the excitement
in Energy, anything Green, and now, health care?
It's often said that the venture capitalists are the
most optimistic of all and they are the best barometer
of where things are headed. We've assembled a stellar team of panelists including
Bob Borchers of Opus Capital (fwho
until recently headed Apple iPhone product development),
Bruce Taragin of Blumberg Capital and Paul Straub of Claremont Creek
Ventures to discuss and debate where the investment and
technology is headed in 2010 and beyond.
The panel will be moderated by Eric Savitz,
West Coast Editor of Barrons Magazine.
Points of discussion include :
- Status of Recovery and its impact on
the investments
- Technology predictions for 2010 and
beyond
- Job Growth and Segments that are
target for growth
- Hot segments and applications
capturing investor's attention
- Underserved segments and how
entrepreneurs can target them
- With the resurgence of angel
investment and smaller financing rounds
rounds – are VCs still players?
- First round of investment : 2008 vs
2010 - What's different now?
- IT Spending and opportunities for
tech entrepreneurs
- Is investing back in an upswing yet?
If so, what trends are VCs betting on?
- What milestones must be met by
startups seeking funding next year to
ensure investors take them seriously?
- What will the new fundable trends
be: Healthcare 2.0? Green tech? Or are
mobile and cloud computing still “in”
for 2010?
- Tips to securing the first round of
investment and more...
